Below are answers to the questions the OBI team fields most frequently. If your question is not answered below, please send an email to edm_group@humboldt.edu.

Q.How do I get access to OBI?

A. Complete and submit the online Access Request Form.

Q.What do I do when OBI returns a Javascript error or acts strangely?

A. Check to make sure you are using the latest version of Mozilla Firefox, the recommended browser for use with OBI.

Q. OBI doesn't seem to be available. How can I find out when it will be back online?

A. The OBI server is normally taken offline every night from 11:15 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and on the third Sunday of every month from 5:01 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  When unplanned outages occur, the user community is notified by email. 

Q. How do I subscribe to the OBI myReports outage and deployment emails?

A. Please contact edm_group@humboldt.edu to request access.

Q. I need to create a custom report. Is there a way to help me learn how to do this?

A. Yes, online training is available. Instructor training is available on request by contacting edm_group@humboldt.edu.

Q. How can I access OBI when I am off campus?

A.  You can access OBI using HSU’s Virtual Private Network.

Q. What is a Fact and Dimension (for OBI Authors)?

A. A data warehouse fact table is used to store all numeric measures to describe a campus event. For example, the purchase amount, sales tax associated with a purchase.

A data warehouse dimension table is used to provide context associated with the campus event.  For example, a dimension table would contain account and department names associated with the purchase event.
