Wireless for Students, Faculty & Staff
eduroam (educational roaming) is Humboldt's official wireless network for students, staff and faculty, replacing the older and less secure HumboldtWireless. It's a secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community that allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to access the internet across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop or other mobile device. Visitors to campus who do not have an eduroam account can connect to the internet via the HumboldtConnect guest network.
Here's what you get with eduroam:
- It’s valid for five years – you’ll get a renewal reminder via email
- Authentication does not require a password
- You get instant automatic wifi at any eduroam institution worldwide
- The eduroam software automatically recognizes your device – no tech knowledge required
- All communications are secure and encrypted
Connecting to eduroam
Click the button below and follow the prompts to connect to the network - the software will automatically detect your device type. You do need to be running a currently-supported operating system, and computers must have antivirus with up-to-date definitions installed.
If you have trouble running the installer on Android, make sure Enable Server Certificate Validation is checked in Network Settings.
If you join eduroam manually, here are the settings to use:
- EAP Method: PEAP
- Phase 2 Auth: MSCHAPv2
- Ca Cert: Do Not Validate
- Identity: Humboldt email (abc123@humboldt.edu)
- Domain: humboldt.edu
- Anonymous: - leave blank -
- Password: Humboldt password
If you experience any difficulties in connecting, while the Technology Help Desk can’t actually work on personal mobile devices directly, they can point you in the right direction. So if something’s not working right, just give them a call at x4357 or submit a ticket.
