Recommended technology equipment and accessories listed below can be purchased in Procure2Pay (P2P) from a supplier without a quote.

If you need computer device (desktop/laptop/tablet/printer) purchasing guidance, please refer to the Computer & Printer Purchasing for Staff & Faculty page before requesting a quote and moving ahead with your purchase to help you determine which product will meet your needs and budget. Most devices are available for purchase with an educational discount directly from Dell (Windows PC) and CDWG( Apple/Macintosh).  ITS will provide a quote from one of our approved suppliers, as well as purchasing process guidance.  For more information, please visit the P2P technology purchasing instructions for staff and faculty.

For sustainability purposes, ITS strives to meet the University's goal of purchasing equipment that is Energy Star and/or Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) rated by providing the recommended list of equipment and accessories below, where applicable.

Computer Accessories, Equipment, and Supplies

The items listed below are available, for discounted prices, in Procure-to-Pay (P2P).  Login at P2P with your Humboldt credentials, and search for your product either on the P2P home page or inside the “punchout” for a particular supplier (e.g. Amazon Business, Dell, CDWG, SHI). P2P access is available to all faculty and staff via myHumboldt, and if you do not have login access, you can request shopper and requisitioner access by submitting a Technology Help Desk ticket.  Not finding what you need?  Please submit a Technology Help Desk ticket, so we can help you find the right equipment or accessory.

Recommended standard hardware equipment models supported by ITS

The following specific products may be purchased directly from a P2P supplier without a quote. ITS review is required via the P2P approval process and workflow after submitting a purchase requisition, and will be approved as soon as possible if it is a model listed below. If you are not sure what to buy or have any questions, please submit a Technology Help Desk ticket for guidance or a consultation.

  • Card/ID reader or swiper - IDTech MiniMag Magstripe IDMB-334112B.
  • Document Camera - Epson ELPDC21.
  • Dell WD22TB4 docking station - compatible with all Dell laptop models and Apple 14" and 16" Macbook Pro notebooks - available in the Dell punchout in P2P.
  • Dell Monitors and other brand monitors (e.g. LG and Samsung) with standard HDMI and DisplayPort connections - Dell monitors can be purchased directly from the P2P Dell punchout listed in Showcases - P2425H (24”) and P2725H (27”) are the most commonly used and sized monitors in labs and offices.  If you need any help determining if a non-Dell monitor adheres to standards, please open a Help Desk ticket requesting assistance.
  • Flatbed and desktop Scanners - Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1600 - USB connection.

Other recommended equipment and accessories

Products in any of the below categories may be purchased directly from a supplier in P2P without a quote as well.

  • Adapters/Cables (except network patch cables) - ITS can provide adapter and cable-compatible recommendations.  ITS can provide network patch cables to departments.
  • Batteries - except those associated with a laptop or computer device. ITS can provide a quote for a laptop/computer device replacement battery specific to the model of device.  For battery backups (UPS), see UPS recommendations below.
  • Cameras and video cameras - excluding video conferencing cameras.  For supported video conferencing cameras and TV bars (Owl, Owlbar, Logitech Rally bar etc), please submit a Technology Help Desk ticket requesting assistance and quote.
  • Chargers - AC adapters and chargers for laptops, tablets, and computer-related devices.
  • Clickers - clickers and laser pointers - recommend Logitech products.
  • Computer Speakers - wired and Bluetooth.
  • Digital voice recorders - recommend OM SYSTEM OLYMPUS WS-883 Digital Voice Recorder - can be use with MS Word for transcription purposes.
  • DVD players - external optical drives used for CD and DVD playback/recording inlcuding Blu-ray.
  • Keyboards - wired and wireless.  Recommend Dell and Logitech for Windows and Logitech and Apple keyboards for Mac devices.
  • Headphones and headsets - recommend Logitech and Dell headsets .
  • Mice/Trackballs/Track pads - wired and wireless, including ergonomic options (Recommend Evoluent VerticalMouse or Logitech Lift for ergonomic use.).
  • Microphones - stand-alone microphones such as Shure and Blue Yeti, both wired and wireless.
  • PA Systems - power amplified speaker systems for larger events.
  • Toner cartridges - recommend HP genuine toner for HP printers and extended-life products.
  • SD cards for cameras - must not store non-image data.
  • Televisions -55", 65" and 75" Interactive (touchscreen) TVs are available in the Dell punchout/tile in P2P.  Samsung and LG smart TVs are recommended for non-interactive (non-touch) use cases.
  • Speakerphone -recommend Dell SP3022 speakerphone with AI noise cancelling microphone.
  • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) or Battery Backup - recommend APC battery backup or UPS with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) - recommended standard models: BR1000MS for Dell small form factor (SFF) and Mac Mini desktops or BR1500MS2 for Dell mid-tower and Apple Mac Studio/Pro desktops.
  • USB hubs - for additional standard USB and USB-C ports.
  • Webcams - recommend Logitech C930c and Brio 4K webcams, as well as Dell 2K/4K webcams.

Software, web applications, and cloud services

All software purchases including web and cloud based applications and services must be reviewed by ITS for accesssibility, security, and system support standards.
